Great tools to help HR pros acquire talent

Acquiring talent remains one of the greatest challenges facing human resources departments today. As more and more baby boomers retire, the search for workers with experience and specialized skills to replace them is a major concern.

There are a number of tools on the market to help with this task, and today we will look at two which includes: Kenexa 2x Mobile and Jobvite.

Kenexa 2x Mobile has been one of the favourite programs since 2010 when Human Resources Executive magazine named it the Top HR Product of the Year at their annual HR Technology Conference and Expo in Chicago.

The product was one of the first in its field to identify the growing trend of job applicants to want to use their BlackBerry and iPhone smartphones to access web-based apps.

As a company, Kenexa has long been in the business of helping human resources professionals identify the best talent for each job. They have studied how people behave and work in teams within their workplace and developed software to reflect their findings.

The Kenexa 2x Mobile app helps HR professionals approve job requisitions and complete the hiring process on the move. It offers an applicant tracking solution that focuses in particular on primary hiring tasks, so human resources officials can keep the hiring process moving, even if they are on the road or at a job fair, for example. The app is free, but to use it you need a Kenexa licence. It is synchronized with Kenexa’s SaaS-based applicant tracking system.

Jobvite is another useful tool for the busy and mobile human resources professional. It provides a comprehensive recruiting software platform to make the recruiting process move quickly from finding the applicant to completing the hiring process.

It works by having contacts send Jobvites, essentially job invitations, across their social media networks simultaneously, matching the jobs to contacts whose profiles match the job description. The process is instant, and the results are tracked in real time. Each person who receives the Jobvite is tracked and you can watch whether or not the person responds.

One of the most valuable parts of the tool is the excellent metrics it offers so that you can clearly see what is working and just importantly, what approach is not working.

It is great help when you have to source candidates in a hurry, or several candidates with specific skill sets all at once. Besides using social media sites like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc., it will also send the candidates traditional emails if you prefer.

Today’s human resources professionals have to move faster than ever before in the search for good talent, and these apps and others like them make the process a little easier.

Bonus tool

Another similar tool that is completely free is SmartRecruiters. SmartRecruiters posts job openings on sites, mobile apps and social media networks and allows customizable job posts. It provides a searchable database with millions of profiles that makes it easy to find the applicant you are looking for.
