A Wired Magazine article points out the registration fees for the Webbys have been climbing steadily since its inception 16 years ago. Rather than awarding independent producers of quality content, the Webbys now tend to recognize the efforts of big brands that seek to promote themselves with flashy graphics and big budgets.
