MARKHAM, Ont. – IBM Canada Ltd. is on a small-to-medium business (SMB) mission to recruit resellers with specific knowledge in this market.

IBM Canada has already bolstered its reseller base by 50 since January and has a total of more than 250 alliance agreements with VARs who sell specifically

in the SMB space.

The carrot IBM Canada is dangling to VARs in this area is a full range of sales, technical, educational and marketing support.

Big blue also has inked a deal with Bell Microproducts Canada to distribute more IBM storage products. Bell Micro will now be offering the VAR channel IBM SAN, NAS, RAID, LTO and the eServer xSeries solutions.

Finally, IBM Canada is launching phase one of a communications campaign targeted at identifying how big blue can work closer with the channel community starting in the SMB space. IBM has released a 3D direct mail piece inviting resellers to a Web-based survey profiling their business and their interests. A contest incentive will be part of the direct mail piece. IBM has currently received detailed responses from over 60 per cent of the channel in Canada.
