Dell announces Open Manage Client Administrator 3.0
Dell announced Open Manage Client Administrator 3.0 (OMCA 3.0), a management tool for its client products that enables hardware and software for Precision workstations, Latitude notebooks, and OptiPlex desktops to be managed from a single console.

The product, developed with Altiris, is an integrated suite that offers the ability to create, edit, copy and remotely deploy system images. The offering includes capabilities ranging from the deployment and migration of systems to the collection of hardware and software inventory information.

It also allows customers to configure BIOS settings, distribute software, monitor hardware status and assess the landscape of networked clients from a secure Web interface.

OMCA 3.0 is available for US$50.50 per unit.

DragonWave releases version of APX-104E and APX-108E
DragonWave Inc. announced the expansion of the AirPair series of products with the addition of APX-104E and APX-108E.

The enhanced APX offerings allow AirPair to provide T1 and E1 transport capabilities, enabling important carrier-grade TDM functionality to address the service provider’s transition from time dimension multiplexing (TDM) to IP. The AirPair platform can now deliver up to 120 DS1’s or 90 E1’s providing remote CLI, SNMP and GUI management, with complete T1/E1 statistics. Using timing over packet, AirPair can meet G.823 jitter and wander requirements.

Microsoft announces SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 Community Technology Preview
Microsoft released Community Technology Previews (CTPs) available as public downloads leading up to the public release of SQL Server 2005 SP1.

SQL Server 2005 SP1 CTP delivers new functionality for database mirroring and SQL Server Management Studio Express, along with regular fit and finish adjustments and enhancements. Also, as part of this new model, Microsoft is introducing a separate release tree for any future SQL Server security fixes.

IObit releases free Windows diagnosis and repair program
IObit Inc. has released Advanced WindowsCare v. 1.71, a free Windows 2000/XP utility that can analyze and fix Windows problems. Advanced WindowsCare lets home and business users detect bottlenecks and eliminate freeze-ups and blue-screen crashes.

Advanced WindowsCare performs an examination of a Windows system and identifies problem areas. The program analyzes system CPU and memory, Windows configuration, network settings, and appearance. The software has a knowledge base that can spot issues that could lead to system slow downs and crashing and then fixes them. If the computer is running on a network, Advanced WindowsCare will examine the Internet browser settings, check the QoS bandwidth and packet queuing, look at the task processing settings, check the LAN access and TCP/IP parameters and inspect the DNS caching.

Advanced WindowsCare’s interface makes it ideal for use by non-technical computer owners. If the user makes a mistake, the built-in lifeguard can undo any or all of the changes that have been made. The program also tells the user if they have selected options that are not suitable for the computer that they’re running.

JafaSoft offers web page print optimization application
JafaSoft Lim. has released PrintPunk v1.1, a utility that automatically fits any web page to the printed page from Internet Explorer 6.0. PrintPunk corrects the common problem of having the right-hand side of wide web pages missing when printing from Internet Explorer and allows scaling of web pages to any size on the final printed page.

PrintPunk is a plug-in toolbar that optimizes the printing and browsing ability of Internet Explorer 6.0. A Print button takes the user to a print preview window with the web page automatically scaled to fit within the current paper size. The user can rescale the web page larger or smaller. All paper sizes are supported including letter, legal, executive and ISO standard sizes such as A4. PrintPunk will automatically enlarge or shrink a web page to fit landscape and portrait layouts.

Print Punk v1.1 runs under Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and costs US$19.95 and may be purchased securely from the product website. Multi-user and site licences are also available. You can also download a free, fully-functional trial version of PrintPunk from the same address.

SBMAV announces disk optimization tool
SBMAV Software announced version 2.76 of Disk Cleaner, a tool for cleaning out obsolete and temporary files that reduce system performance.

SBMAV Disk Cleaner searches for and deletes temporary files and folders created by Windows and other applications. It also searches for invalid links to documents that have been deleted. In addition, the application disables or enables seldom used fonts, deletes cookies and searches for and removes duplicate files.

SBMAV Disk Cleaner runs under all Windows OS’s and costs US$24.95. An evaluation version of SBMAV Disk Cleaner is available from the company’s site.
