Linksys Wi-Fi range extender helps you perfectly place it

The new AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE6700) from Linksys is designed to blend in with your home décor, let you keep using your power outlet and even place itself in the optimal location in your home.

Wi-Fi range extenders are becoming more common as people demand seamless wireless access throughout their home, and as families with a growing demand for bandwidth and more devices than before place more demands on home networks. The extender helps eliminate dead zones in remote home areas such as the basement or backyard.

To help users get the most value from the device, Linksys has developed Spot Finder technology that allows users to visually identify the best spot for the range extender in their home using their smartphone, tablet or laptop.

“With more and more devices connecting to the home wireless network, the demands to extend that wireless signal are at an all-time high,” said Mike Chen, vice-president, product management at Linksys, in a statement. “Mobile devices are driving this demand because users want to take their devices all around the house but can be limited if the Wi-Fi signal doesn’t reach.  We designed this new RE6700 range extender to provide better coverage and increased signal strength so all devices in the home can enjoy a seamless high-speed wireless experience.”

The AC1200 itself is designed to boost a Wi-Fi signal up to 10,000 sq. ft. while blending in with home décor and featuring a built-in power outlet that maintains use of an existing wall outlet with pass-through functionality.

The extender uses auto-cross band technology to identify the best backhaul path for relaying traffic to and from a particular endpoint, resulting in reduced dropped data packets, faster media transfer speeds and a stronger and more consistent signal. Beamforming technology also focuses and strengthens the Wi-Fi signal.

There’ an integrated gigabit port for connecting a single wired device or a gigabit switch for connecting multiple wired devices to a wireless network and a 3.5mm audio jack to connect speakers to the range extender and stream music wirelessly from a smartphone, tablet or laptop

The device is available now starting at $119.99.
