Document Genius a cloud solution for managing paper files

Konica Minolta Business Solutions Canada Ltd. launched a service, Document Genius, targeted at small to mid-sized businesses that need to manage paper-based documents, it announced April 10.

The Web-based service doesn’t require any software to be installed and can be accessed from any browser program. Being sold through the printer company’s reseller channel and is available on a monthly subscription basis per user. A promotion on the Web site offers a three-month free trial of the service. It also comes included with some of Konica Minolta’s bizhub multi-function printers (MFPs), which are required to upload scanned documents to the service.

Once a paper document is scanned and stored on the cloud service, it is indexed for search by key word using optical character recognition  Files are stored in their original format and viewable in HTML. Users can set up administrative control of the documents and add custom meta data to describe them.
