The computer phone attendant

Software brings call consoles
Small businesses with high call volumes seeking enterprise attendant functions without purchasing expensive attendant hardware are the target market for a new PC-based answering-position solution from Allworx.

The Allworx Call Assistant is a software application for companies wanting to answer incoming calls with a live voice and to better manage phone traffic. Operators can monitor the status of every phone line at all times, including remote phones. The Call Assistant integrates with Allworx’s 9112 phone or the new Allworx 9102 phone. Users gain centralized call management; standard call control functions at the top of the computer screen; a simple user interface; support for both VoIP and traditional phone lines; and an easy installation process.

ERP extensions
Microsoft Corp.‘s Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 Extensions is a wide range of enhancements to the Microsoft Dynamics GP enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. They promise strengthened compliance tracking and reporting capabilities, increased business process functionality, and extend the standards-based tools available for developers. More mobility options let users access information relevant to their roles when they need it. Among the new features is the Field Service Anywhere solution for service technicians, which can be deployed via handheld devices and synchronized with Service Call Management. Enhanced integration between Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 and Microsoft Dynamics GP Professional means remote users in the field can view available credit for a customer, inventory numbers or value-added tax information.

Network management
TECSys Development Inc., a provider of enterprise Security Event Management (SEM) and regulatory compliance solutions, is offering a cost-effective version of its ConsoleWorks software, preconfigured in a server appliance for out-of-the-box convenience. The ConsoleWorks Appliance Server (CAS) is a software-hardware combination that lets IT organizations deliver a remote or local network management solution. Developed for SMBs, the appliance provides remote access consolidated management of their networked systems, servers, applications and devices. With ConsoleWorks’ CAS, IT managers can act immediately, locally or remotely, fixing any system or device problem that arises. Remediation of recurring events can be automated using ConsoleWorks’ Intelligent Event Modules (IEMs) and custom scripts.

Small manufacturers, business managers
