HP Zvr brings 3D to your desktop and your classroom

Las Vegas — With its Blended Reality vision, Hewlett-Packard Co. is looking to break down the barriers between the physical world and the digital world.

Blended Reality is HP’s name for the printing and personal systems group’s vision for how technology can blend the digital and physical worlds, and make technology more tangible by allowing us to grab, mash and manipulate things.

Among the elements of this vision is HP Sprout, a multitouch immersive computer with a 20-point touch-enabled touch mat, and Multi Jet Fusion, HP’s 3D printing technology. And the third is HP Zvr.

Launching this spring after making its debut in January at the Consumer Electronics Show, Zvr is a 23.6” interactive display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 4IR cameras. With use of the 3D glasses, the stereoscopic display’s full-motion parallax sensors track the movement of your head and a stylus allows you to interact with the 3D environment.

In this video report from HP’s Global Partner Conference, we get a 2D tour of HP’s new 3D display, and a taste of how 3D can bring curriculum to life in a near-future classroom.
