How Microsoft’s Cortana will make you a better brother

SAN FRANCISCO – We got a first look at Microsoft Corp.’s mobile digital assistant Cortana at its Build conference on Wednesday.

Cortana, the name plucked from videogame franchise Halo in which an artificial female character guides the player through their mission, is being called a “truly personal digital assistant” by Microsoft. It will be featured on its Windows Phone devices such as the Nokia Lumia line. You might call it Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s Siri, but this voice assistant seems quite different. It keeps a notebook on your personal preferences, and will keep quiet hours for you when you don’t want to be disturbed.

As seen in this video (hit play above) it will even remind you to be a good brother.
