Nature of IT: Renowned Canadian scientist David Suzuki joins Insight for webinar addressing global challenges

The celebrated academic and tech experts from Insight, Cisco, CommVault and Dell Technologies will discuss enacting positive change in today’s world

TEMPE, Ariz., September 28, 2020 — Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ:NSIT), the global integrator of Insight Intelligent Technology Solutions™ for organizations of all sizes, is bringing a force of nature to an upcoming webinar focused on modern solutions to reshape the rapidly changing global landscape for good.

David Suzuki, the iconic Canadian academic, science broadcaster and environmental activist, will join The Nature of IT virtual event at 2 p.m. (EST) Wednesday to share his insight into enacting positive change in today’s world. Throughout an illustrious career spanning decades, Dr. Suzuki has dedicated his life to stimulating positive change in the natural world and advancing alternatives for achieving a more sustainable society in the face of threats to human and wildlife well-being.

IT leaders from Insight, Cisco, CommVault and Dell Technologies also will explore the latest technological advances primed to transform the world for the better. Insight partners Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Intel, Ingram, Microsoft, Veeam and VMware are co-sponsoring the event.

Dr. Suzuki is widely recognized as a world leader in sustainable ecology and has received numerous awards and is Companion to the Order of Canada. Dr. Suzuki is Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and holds 29 honorary degrees from universities around the world. He is well-known to international audiences as host of the CBC science and natural history series, “The Nature of Things.” His written work includes more than 55 books, 19 of them for children. A longtime environmental activist, he co-founded the David Suzuki Foundation in 1990 to “to conserve our environment and find solutions that will create a sustainable Canada through science-based research, education and policy work.”

“Difficult as it is now, this pandemic will subside and we will learn some profound lessons from the experience,” said Suzuki. “In this moment of crisis, we should be asking what an economy is for, whether there are limits, how much is enough and whether we are happier with all this stuff.”

John Dathan, Insight Canada senior vice president and general manager, will host sessions on technology’s role in uniting people to common causes, safeguarding the wellbeing of people in work and public places, inspiring responsible innovations, and reducing the impact on the environment. Presentations will be made by Sean Earhard, advanced threat solutions specialist, Cisco; Dan Kronstal, solution area lead for Cloud + Data Center Transformation and Digital Innovation, Insight Canada; Matt Tyrer, senior manager, solutions marketing, Commvault; and Eric Amar, datacenter compute product specialist, Dell Technologies.

“As our world goes more and more digital, the power of technology and the organizations that use it to be champions of change becomes unlimited,” said Dathan. “But the nature of IT is it’s only as good as the minds and hands that wield it. We’re at a critical tipping point today – from intelligent technology reshaping the resilience of entire cities to managing a healthy work-life balance as personal and work lives blend together in dispersed work environments. Once companies have the technology right, they can go back to focusing on what they do best.”
