Square and SumAll team up to help small businesses boost their sales and marketing efforts

Square Inc. is bringing its partnership with SumAll to Canada, giving businesses and marketers access to SumAll’s data analytics through Square’s dashboard.

In September, Square announced it’d be teaming up with SumAll, a marketing analytics company that provides metrics and reports for a slate of social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The fruits of that initial partnership were initially only available to Square’s U.S. customers, but now, Square’s Canadian customers can also get in on all the data analytics action.

They’ll be able to link their Square accounts to the ad platforms provided by Facebook, Google, and Bing, their email accounts with MailChimp, and their storefronts with Shopify and eBay, as well as a whole slew of other sources of data. The data all gets pulled into one spot – the Square Register dashboard, which small businesses and marketers use to keep track of their sales, items, employees, banking information, and notifications.

“We were looking for the most comprehensive solution to enter all of your analytics on a single dashboard, so that our sellers have the resources to manage and grow their businesses,” says Jenny He, communications lead for Square Canada.

“I think at the end of the day, it’s really about saving our sellers time and giving them access to these really high-powered tools that a lot of large companies have, but small businesses traditionally haven’t had access to,” she adds.

“Being able to see all of your different marketing activities on one dashboard and seeing how it correlates is super helpful, because you can see what is most effective and what perhaps is not as effective. You can see how your company is faring up to the second.”

This is the second time this month that Square has introduced a previously U.S.-only feature to its Canadian customers. Last week, Square announced Mobile Invoices, which initially launched in the U.S. in June, and it’s looking to expand more within Canada in the coming year, He says.

“I think something that a lot of people don’t know is that Square is growing really, really quickly in Canada,” she says, adding Square already has more than 240,000 Canadian sellers signed up with its service, or about 20 per cent of the country’s small business market.

Existing Square customers in Canada can start tapping into SumAll’s analytics today, and there are no extra fees required to use the feature.
