#FollowFriday – Google+, Bitcoin, and leadership

For this week’s edition of our #FollowFriday post, we’ve rounded up a list of three people we talked to while writing our stories. Whether they tweet on Bitcoin, Google+, or leadership, these three Twitter users have some interesting insights to share.

And in case you’re not on Twitter, #FollowFriday, or #FF, is a Friday standby where Twitter users recommend a list of accounts to others. For example, you might tweet, “#FF @itworldca @itbusinessca @compdealernews” to encourage your followers to follow these accounts, especially if you see value in their tweets.

For this edition of #FF, here are a few Twitter handles that we think are worth a click on the “follow” button.

Guy Kawasaki, Google+ expert and former chief evangelist for Apple Inc.

Earlier this week, we had the chance to interview Guy Kawasaki, former chief evangelist at Apple and known for boosting the Macintosh II computer back in the day. Now, as an advisor to Google-owned Motorola, he’s an expert on mobility and at the same time, an expert on leveraging Google+, the search giant’s social network. One of his key duties is to build a mobile community around Google+. He regularly tweets about stories on tech, marketing, workplace leadership, and pop culture, making for an eclectic mix of 120,000 tweets featuring intriguing links, and about 120,000 reasons to follow. Oh, and he’s Twitter verified. PS – don’t forget to check out our video interviews with Kawasaki, shot from the Avaya conference earlier this week.

Anthony Di Iorio, executive director of the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada

As a staunch believer in Bitcoin, Di Iorio is the executive director of the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating others about Bitcoin’s potential as a digital currency. The alliance was the group responsible for bringing the Bitcoin ATM to Toronto. Di Iorio also runs a number of startups providing Bitcoin-related services, like Kryptokit, which helps Bitcoin users set up an instant, secure Bitcoin wallet.

This year, he plans on setting up a new accelerator for Bitcoin-related startups at Bitcoin Decentral, a co-working space in downtown Toronto. He’s also currently fundraising for a new Bitcoin alternative called Ethereum, slated for use in the financial services industry.
