#Follow Friday – 3 people in finance

Every Follow Friday, we round up a list of people with active Twitter accounts, ones that we feel are worth a click on the ‘follow’ button.

This week, we’re focusing on the people who are making a difference in the world of finance, using tech to make banking better for both consumers and people in the financial industry.

Charaka Kithulegoda, CIO of Tangerine

Tangerine has been making a name for itself as an easy way to do mobile banking, giving tech-friendly consumers the chance to bank on the go. A subsidiary of Scotiabank, Tangerine has just introduced voice biometrics, as well as a voice assistant, to its mobile banking app, aiming to make the banking experience even better. Head on over here to read ITBusiness.ca editor Brian Jackson’s story on the app’s new features.

Mary Kopczynski, CEO and founder of 8of9 Consulting

As the head of 8of9 Consulting, by day, Kopczynski helps banks and financial services companies sift through their legal documents, ensuring they’re up-to-date and compliant with regulators’ demands. Sometimes, that can mean trawling through decades’ worth of documents, scanned and saved to older desktops, trying to sort out which files are legal documents and which are “someone’s fantasy football league pick,” she says.

Kopczynski typically tweets on financial headlines, but she also regularly tweets about philanthropy and investments, as well as on entrepreneurship and the traits of strong leaders.

Kerry Taylor, creator and sole writer at Squawkfox

While Taylor may not work directly in the financial industry, she follows it pretty closely. She regularly writes about personal finance for consumers on her blog, Squawkfox, as well as in her book, 397 Ways To Save Money. Taylor regularly tweets on personal finance tips, but she also follows tech-related headlines that affect consumers – like this data breach at Well.ca.
