All Hands on Tech: Samsung Galaxy S4

NEW YORK CITYSamsung Electronics launched its new Galaxy S4 last week at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, and ITBusiness.ca was among the first to get its hands on the new device, which should be available in Canada in the second quarter.

The new handset runs Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and, as you can see, it boasts a beautiful 5″ full HD super AMOLED display. And yes, that it Gorilla Glass. You’ve got a 13MP camera on the back, 2MP on the front, and its backed with sensors.

It even has a pedometer to track your steps, which ties into Samsung’s new fitness app, S Health. There’s also a translator app and lots of new photo tools. And if you use your Galaxy S4 for work and play, Samsung Knox will help you firewall your personal and work lives, much like BlackBerry Balance.

One feature Samsung is particularly proud of is Air Touch, which tracks where your finger is hovering without it touching the screen — handy of you have sticky fingers. I found the interface finicky though — I suspect it takes some getting used to.
