Vidyard releases free video-making browser extension anyone can use

Vidyard ViewedIt

Kitchener, Ont.-based Vidyard has so far focused on building its video platform for businesses, but on Tuesday it released a new, free Google Chrome extension that anyone can use to make a screen capture video accompanied by a webcam video of their talking head.

Called ViewedIt, the point of the tool is to start simultaneously recording your screen and your face with one click of your mouse. When you’re done your video, you can send it by email or via the social channel of your choice to the intended viewer. Here’s Vidyard’s Jeff Gadway explaining how it works:

It looks like a perfect tool for anyone working in a customer support job for software, as you could quickly create a custom video tutorial for any problems facing your users. Vidyard also suggests that sales reps could use the product for personalized product demonstrations and lead prospecting. Marketers could use it to record presentations and training content, and executives could use it to communicate with a large number of employees.

In addition to recording and sending your videos, ViewedIt will report on its metrics, so you can see if your intended recipient actually watched the video and how much of it was watched.
