Microsoft CRM to support iOS, Android

Customer relationship management software is a great use case for mobile technology, offering the ability to draw on and update customer information in the field.

Microsoft Corp. is making its mobile CRM play with the announcement that the fall releases of its on-premise and online Dynamics 2013 applications suite will support Apple’s iPad tablet. Later releases will incorporate support for iPhones and smart phones based on Google’s Android mobile operating system.

The online version of Dynamics competes head to head with Salesforce. Mobility is a necessity, not an option, David Kohar, chief customer officer at Microsoft partner Zero2Ten, told CRN in an interview.

The fall releases of Dynamics will also feature fuller integration of Microsoft’s Lync unified communications platform, as well as Microsoft-owned business social networking tool Yammer and and communications tool Skype.
