IT World Canada president honoured with Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal

The president of ITBusiness.ca’s parent company was honoured in Montreal this past weekend for her contributions to Canada’s IT sector.

Fawn Annan, president and group publisher of IT World Canada, receiveda special Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in a ceremony heldSunday during the i-CANADA summit on digital leadership and intelligentcommunities.

“To be in the presence of such an incredible group of Canadians – fromJohn Kelly, former CEO of SHL Systemhouse and Jetform, to BrianBronfman who is taking care of his Family Foundation for peace – wasthe most humbling experience of my life,” Annan said. “I feel extremelyfortunate to be part of this select club of recognized individuals whohave made a difference to our landscape. It is a tremendous honour.”

In addition to her role at IT World Canada, Annan is anadvisory board member at Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT) andOntario vice-president of Invest CrowdFund Canada.

David Jonah, Annan’s strategic advisor at IT World Canada, was also oneof the 38 medal recipients. Other notable honourees includedFrederictonmayor Brad Woodside, crowdfunding advocate and Helix CommerceInternational CEO Cindy Gordon, and ING Direct CEO Peter Aceto.

The jubilee medal was created to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s sixtiethyear on the throne by honouring Canadian achievers in various fields.
