Honouring the best and brightest of the Canadian digital media scene

The Canadian Digital Media Network (CDMN) has announced the finalists for its inaugural Moonshot Awards. And while none of these companies will actually launch anything into space, the winners will ne honoured for their achievement in Canada’s digital media market.

The awards were created to recognize Canadian companies that create jobs and wealth for Canada through innovation in digital media. And, according to the CDMN, the companies also all contribute to its Canada 3.0 Moonshot Goal, which is that anyone be able to do anything online by 2017.

The nine finalists were selected from over 30 submissions, and the winners will be selected by a panel of judges that includes journalist Kevin Newman, Omers Ventures director Sid Paquette, Deloitte Canada chief innovation officer Terry Stuart, RocketScope founder April Dunford and CDMN managing director Kevin Turner.

The first award category is CDMN Digital Media Dynamic Company of the Year, recognizing he Canadian company demonstrating the greatest increase in productivity through the adoption of digital media, and the finalists are: Magnet Forensics Inc., Vidyard and TalentEgg.

The Finalists for CDMN Digital Media Globalizer of the Year recognizes a Canadian company that demonstrates the greatest increase in international sales, investments or other contributions to the growth of the Canadian digital media industry internationally. The finalists are Axonify, Desire2Learn and Zighra.

For CDMN Digital Media Innovator of the Year, which recognizes the Canadian company demonstrating the greatest degree of innovation through the adoption of digital media, the finalists are: Miovision Technologies, Voices.com and Bionik Laboratories.

And the finalists for CDMN Digital Media Company of the Year, which recognizes the Canadian company that made the greatest contributions to the growth of the Canadian digital media industry in the past year, are: Desire2Learn, Vidyard, Magnet Forensics Inc., Axonify and Miovision.

The winners will be announced at the CDMN Canada 3.0 Conference on May 14 in Toronto.
