Facebook Insights to appear in real-time

Page performance data on Facebook will begin showing in real-time rather than the usual 48 hours according to a report from technology news site TechCrunch.

Work on getting Insights to show real-tme results may have been prompted recent long delays of 4 days or more, chronicled by one-off website WhyIsFacebookInsightsNotWorking.com.

Factors such as Impressions, reach, negative feedback, “people talking about this”, and demographics of engagers could all start showing up live in the graphical Insights interface as well as the API.

Data reported by Insights could give businesses the understanding necessary to drive higher return of investment. Speding up the reporting time, TechCrucnch said could attract more brands and advertisers to Facebook in the lead up to its IPO.

Currently the only metrics that are reported in near real-time are for offsite social plugins, and Likes, comments, and shares on a Page’s posts to the news feed. It typically takes 12 hours to two before Page posts start displaying “reach” and “people talking about.”

This delays the time when brand’s site admin can check the other metric of Insights such as ” link clicks”, and “impressions” of the post driven by Sponsored Story ads. This could further delay the time when they can launch a new campaign or delete a link or post.
