Apple updates MacBook Pro lineup with even faster specs

Apple Inc. announced some incremental updates to its line of MacBook Pro with Retina Display laptops this morning, packing faster processors and more memory into the computers already known for their performance.

The new MacBook Pros bear no change in appearance or size, but the specs will see some improvement. Intel Corp.’s latest line of Haswell processors will be installed in the 13-inch MacBook Pro and 15-inch MacBook Pro models. Here’s the three new base options available to Apple shoppers considering a MacBook Pro in Canada:

The new MacBooks come loaded with OS X Mavericks, the current iteration of Apple’s desktop OS, but will be able to upgrade to OS X Yosemite for free when it’s updated in the fall.

While Apple recently updated the specs on its MacBook Air line while cutting prices at the same time, the prices for the MacBook Pro models are seeing a slight increase in Canada. While those buying the entry-level models at either screen size will be paying the same price, those opting for a step up in specs will be paying $50 more for their shiny new aluminum uni-body shell with the Apple logo on the back.
