Apple and Nike team up for new smartwatch

Apple Inc. is all-aboard the personal fitness train with the Apple Watch Series 2. Today, alongside with Nike, Apple has introduced the Apple Watch Nike+, the newest edition to the Series 2 family.

The Apple Watch Nike+ combines the Series 2 with the Nike+ Run Club app to provide additional motivation, coaching, and workout plans for the wearer. This version of the Series 2 features exclusive Nike Sport Bans and unique watch faces that are inspired by Nike. Features include activity rings, heart rate, stopwatch, and weather apps, in addition to the generic Series 2 functionality.

Like all Apple Watch Series 2 models, it includes a built-in GPS to track pace, distance, and route, even without an iPhone on hand, and has water resistance of up to 50 meters. Additionally, the Nike+ Run Club app allows friends to create groups in order to motivate one another during workouts.

The watch is available in two aluminum case sizes, 32 mm and 42 mm, with four Nike Sport Band colour combinations: black/volt, black/cool gray, flat silver/white, and flat silver/volt. The 38 mm is available for $489, and the 42 mm is available for $529.

The Apple Watch Nike+ releases on Friday, October 28, and will be available on Apple.ca and Nike.com, as well as at Apple Stores, select Nike retail locations, and select retailers.
