Amazon offers Canadians yet another free cloud storage service

Cloud computing firm Amazon.ca released a cloud storage service today to compete with a long list of competitors including Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft SkyDrive, Apple iCloud, Box.net, and more.

Previously Cloud Drive was accessible to Canadians via the Amazon.com Web site, but now a localized version of the service is available. The Cloud service syncs a local folder from your computer to the Web, and across other PCs and mobile devices that you connect to the service. Amazon offers Cloud Drive for Windows and Mac to plug-in to the service, and Cloud Drive Photos for Android and iOS to sync photos from mobile devices.

Amazon.ca’s Cloud Drive Photos app is available for Android or iOS.

Users who want more than the standard free 5 GB of storage can pay for more. Plans start at $10 per year for 20 GB of total storage.

In other cloud storage news today, Flickr announced it is now offering 1 terabyte (1,000 GB) to users of its photo-sharing and storage service.
