Newsflash. Silicon Valley is an exciting place to be if you are a tech startup.
Along with a dozen other innovators from Toronto including John Ruffolo, CEO of OMERS Ventures and Eric Rogness, Founder of Mobd, I have been here all week, as the Director of Startup Grind Toronto, for the Startup Grind 2014 Annual conference.
There have been many highlights. Reid Hoffman, Mark Suster interviewing Ben Horowitz, Victoria Ransom and a long list of startup luminaries donated their time to inspire almost 1,000 Founders from more than 20 countries, all over the world.
My company, Cdling, was grateful for the opportunity to present limited seating Q&A sessions with two of the most experienced pioneers of the social Internet era:
- Jim Scheinman, founder of Maven Ventures who served on the Founding teams of Friendster and Bebo.
- Ariel Polar, with over 60 angel investments including Odeo, Flixster, Slideshare and a former Board role at StumbleUpon.
Both are users of and investors in AngelList. Both have agreed to come to Toronto for our local Startup Grind events, so watch for that. (And be sure to catch legendary tech evangelist Robert Scoble at OCAD University on Feb. 26th!)
Even with all of these tech rockstars imparting wisdom, I thought that one of most interesting insights that I could share with you are a couple of videos of my encounters with the many people who are testing Google Glass in the Bay Area.
