A new series of networking events that showcases successful Ottawa IT companies and the diverse teams that helped them go global will launch on June 28th, 2018.
The ‘Start Local, Go Global’ series is organized by In-TAC and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce. The inaugural event will feature Pythian, an IT services company that helps businesses adopt disruptive technologies to become more competitive.
Founded in 1997, Pythian now employs 400 people, with experts in over 35 countries. Its CEO, Paul Vallée, is a strong proponent of diversity in the workplace. “Pythian has long believed in the value of engaging a diverse, global workforce,” said Vallée. “There are countless benefits to be gained from working with experts from all over the world — everything from enabling us to deliver 24×7 support services, to broadening our range of technical skills and experiences.”
On June 28th, Pythian will welcome registered guests at its new head office location in Ottawa. Vallée will be on-hand to share insights on how global talent has contributed to Pythian’s success. He’ll also take questions about career growth options and best practices in talent acquisition.
IT industry stakeholders will have an opportunity to meet some of In-TAC’s brightest available local talent. In-TAC is a non-profit organization based in Ottawa that helps bridge newcomer IT talent to Canada with the country’s growing technology leaders. “While we will always maintain a global workforce, programs like In-TAC help bring some of that global workforce to us, enriching our work environment through both skill and cultural diversity,” said Vallée. “Bringing new IT talent to Canada is a win for everyone involved.”
The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on June 28th at 319 McRae Avenue, Suite 700 in Ottawa. After opening remarks and a brief Q & A session with Vallée, guests can mingle in Pythian’s open-concept media space and its large outdoor terrace overlooking the trendy Westboro neighbourhood.
The ‘Start Local, Go Global’ series will present Ottawa IT success stories throughout the year. The series platform will provide a regular opportunity for industry representatives to network and to connect with the diverse and highly skilled talent base that Ottawa has to offer.
