SmartONE nabs Digital Transformation Award for community building efforts

Toronto, ON (July 13, 2020) – A Toronto tech company committed to advancing the digital living experience was recognized with a 2020 Digital Transformation Awards on Tuesday.

SmartONE Solutions Inc. earned the top prize in the Small Private Sector category for its ongoing effort to create and deploy next-generation smart communities. The Markham, Ont.-based company has developed a hardware and software platform to connect smart homes and buildings into smart communities creating a platform to enable security, sustainability, and next-generation services to enhance the living environment.

The company has developed a platform that has been made available to the University of Toronto and soon to the University of Alberta, the University of Ottawa and the University of Waterloo. SmartONE is working with these institutions to develop, test and commercialize assistive care technologies.

“Ted Maulucci and his team have thrown their whole heart into the task,” says ITWC CIO Jim Love. “That has meant continual learning, tackling challenges with innovation, and not just a transform not the company, but changing our idea of what work is.”

The Digital Transformation Award program was launched in 2017 to find successful case studies for organizations looking for examples to follow in their own transformation journey. The program receives nominations from companies and public sector organizations coast to coast. An independent panel of industry experts judges the award winners based on a number of key considerations
