Insight teammates make mark at marathon, raise funds for special needs children

90 Montreal teammates run for a cause, collecting donations to upgrade computers at Summit School for youth with disabilities

TEMPE, Ariz., September 26, 2019 – About 90 teammates from the Montreal office of Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ: NSIT), the global super solution integrator of Insight Intelligent Technology Solutions™ for organizations of all sizes, ran to raise funds for special needs students by participating Sunday in the Oasis Rock ‘N’ Roll Montreal Marathon.

Insight Canada teammates volunteered to cover the cost of rebuilding a technology room and providing a computer refresh at the main campus of the Summit School in Ville St. Laurent. Summit School serves more than 600 children with special needs, and the fundraiser kicked off with individual contributions by Insight marathon runners. The IT room refresh is expected to be completed before the end of the year and will include new computer monitors, desktops, laptops and printers for the students.

“Finding ways to enhance children’s lives through technology is a cause that tugs at the heartstrings of our teammates. We hope the opportunity to bring new equipment to Summit School can contribute to strengthening the learning abilities of this incredible group of students,” said Natalie Zefrani, Insight Canada marketing manager, who orchestrated the school partnership as part of Insight’s Reach mission.

Zefrani said running the Montreal marathon as a group is a 10-year tradition among Insight teammates to promote health and wellness initiatives at the company. The chance to help Summit School made the event even more profound this year, as Insight enlisted IT solutions partners Viewsonic, Samsung, Poly, Autodesk, Targus, Lenovo Canada, Lenovo U.S. and NetApp to contribute to initial fundraising. Further donations are still being gathered, and Insight expects to begin upgrades at the school starting next month.

Summit School provides a supportive learning environment tailored to the unique needs of children with intellectual, behavioral and emotional disabilities. Students range in ages from 4 to 21, and the school’s programs prepare them for adulthood as engaged and independent members of their community.

The school plans to implement the new technology within its work-oriented training programs, travel training, general studies and many other areas to help develop cognitive skills, health and wellness, said Stu Guttman, director of development at Summit School.

“Technology provides our students with the opportunity to connect with the world in new ways every single day. At Summit, our team of expert staff utilizes these amazing tools to instill valuable life skills to our special-needs students,” said Guttman. “We are so appreciative of Insight and their team for going the distance in support of our students. This marathon is an incredible way to show our students and their families that they are cared for and thought of while helping awaken our students’ potential.”

John Dathan, senior vice president and general manager, Insight Canada, added: “We often tell our clients we’re there to turn their business challenges into meaningful outcomes. But if we can do the same for a child through modern technology, there’s nothing more rewarding than connecting them to a more fulfilling future.”
