BFO Ottawa programs go virtual

Ottawa, April 15, 2020- BFO Ottawa inspires hope and healing for people in Ottawa who are grieving. Starting this week we are offering our programs virtually and securely using Zoom videoconferencing.

On Tuesday, April 14,  close to 40 people joined our first webinar, to hear BFO Ottawa’s program director speak about grief and isolation during a pandemic.  In Lorrie’s words: “This is where unconditional love comes in. It’s all about the love story and the life you shared with that person. Remembering this is the way you keep the memory alive in a healthy way.”

Our first virtual weekly support and share afternoon will take place on Thursday, April 16 at noon, and our first virtual support and share night in French only will start on Tuesday, April 21 at 7 pm. French support and share nights are offered on the third Tuesday of every month.

Every Tuesday at 7 pm, we will hold virtual support and share nights as follows:

We will schedule more virtual support and share afternoons or evenings, and provide 1:1 peer support as needed. Check our calendars on our website, bfo-ottawa.org or on Facebook, @bfo.ottawa for more details. Or call us at 613-567-4278.

About BFO Ottawa

We are a volunteer-run organization made up of people in the Ottawa region who have each experienced our own grief, and who have decided to share our courage and knowledge with others.

Our expert facilitators run approximately 120 peer support groups each year, which are attended by more than 2000 people in our community who need help and support in dealing with their grief that stems from many different types of losses.

We are growing as an organization, as more people continue to seek out our support each month, and as more people participate in our memorial events. It is because of the generosity of the Ottawa community that we are able to offer our programs, which are open to everyone.
