Video Rewind: Lazaridis addresses BlackBerry Developers Conference

The tech world was buzzing yesterday over the resignation of Research in Motion co-CEOs Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis. Company executive Thorsten Heins stepped up to take on the CEO role. It wasn’t so long ago that the company co-founders seemed determined to stay in the leadership role at the BlackBerry maker.

Now former co-CEO Lazaridis addressed the crowd at the BlackBerry Developer Conference to explain a service outage, and announce the free apps compensation program to make up for it. At the San Francisco-based conference, RIM also showed off its new BBX operating system, which has since been renamed to BlackBerry 10 after a patent dispute and its release pushed back to the latter half of 2012.
