Toshiba adds five units to Satellite line

Toshiba of Canada Information Systems Group (Toshiba ISG) announced five Satellite Pro. Each unit is preloaded with a one time option to select an English or French operating system. Toshiba’s bilingual Satellite Pro notebook computers feature the bilingual French/English keyboard layout that allows users to select and change the keyboard standard to their language of choice. The keyboards are colour coded and have 85 keys with 12 function keys for ease of use.

Weighing under six pounds, the Satellite Pro A100-50XC features Intel Celeron M Processor 420, 1 GB DDR2 and 80GB hard disk drive space, and wireless LAN 802.11b/g. The 15.4 inch LCD widescreen unit with Trubrite technology features built-in DVD Super-Multi Double Layer drive,  RADEON XPRESS 200M internal graphics and stereo sound. The A110-50XC retails for the suggested list price of $949.

Toshiba also launched two Satellite Pro A110 units. The 15.4 inch notebook PCs feature Trubrite technology, 1GB DDR2 and 100GB hard disk drive space, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, DVD Super-Multi Double Layer optical drive and the option of a French or English operating system and bilingual keyboard. The A110-40XC offers Intel Core Duo processor T2250 – 1.73 GHz and the A110-30XC includes Intel Core Duo processor T2050 – 1.60 GHz . The Satellite Pro A110-40XC and the Satellite Pro A110-30XC retail for a suggested list price of $1349 and $1249 respectively.

The Satellite Pro P100 features a 17 inch widescreen LCD display with Trubrite technology and offers 1GB DDR2 and 100 GB hard disk drive space. It includes a combination of Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 945 with 8-128MB of dynamically allocated shared graphics memory, built-in DVD Super Multi Double Layer optical drive, Harmon Kardon stereo speakers with direct 3D sound. Featuring Intel Core2 Duo processor T5600 – 1.83 GHz, the  P100-90XC retails for $1699 and the P100-00XC, with Intel Core Duo processor T2400, retails for $1599.

Novell works with Concurrent for SUSE release 

Novell announced the availability of SUSE Linux Enterprise Real Time, which adds real-time technology from Concurrent Computer Corp.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Real Time offers support for 32-bit and 64-bit processor architectures (including AMD Opteron and Intel Xeon), predictable interrupt response time of less than 30 microseconds, high-resolution timer support for enhanced scheduling, user-level control of simultaneous multithreading, and processor shielding. The eliminates spikes in latency, ensuring consistent performance and stability, Novell said.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Real Time is now available from Novell and Concurrent.

Whitehill upgrades tool to create personalized documents

Whitehill Technologies, Inc. announced an upgrade of Whitehill Transport, a software offering which lets businesses automatically create, format and distribute high-volume personalized documents.

Enhancements offered in Whitehill Transport 3.2 include: Integrated document collation, including grouping and sorting functions, simple or complex report generation and multi-channel distribution. Streamlined distribution options, are configured through a re-designed user interface, plus an option for custom distribution. Enhanced output options, include the ability to output directly to AFP printers for high throughput printing. A middleware edition can be integrated and managed in companies’ “on-demand” IT environments running IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic application servers. 

netReplay indexes content

Chronicle Solutions has released netReplay, a network content appliance that monitors, captures and text indexes all user network communications in real-time, enabling an organization to visually track, trace, and replay users’ digital content instantly, including: e-mail with all attachments, Web mail, Web pages viewed, Web form submissions, instant messages, chats, blogs, FTP interaction and VoIP.  

With the latest release of netReplay, 64–bit Linux OS version 3.2.1, Chronicle Solutions offers the ability to manage storing, indexing and replaying tens of millions of unique objects and stores up to 7TB of data, netReplay data. 

Sage updates BusinessVision 50 Accounting 

Sage Software announced a version of its business management solution for growing small businesses, Sage BusinessVision 50 Accounting 7.1.

Among the features are credit card options for point of sale (POS) transactions, and automation of many daily accounting tasks such as automatic purchase order (PO) and credit note creation, invoice duplication, and physical inventory posting. A Sage BusinessVision data migration tool for ACCPAC Plus users is also now available.

Sage BusinessVision 50 Accounting 7.1 includes automation functions such as auto-generation of purchase orders based on back orders or reaching ‘safety stock’ level, plus the ability to turn a past invoice into a new credit note or quote. Version 7.1 also includes the ability to suggest alternate parts when requested items are out of stock, take customer account payments from POS, and adds new credit and debit card processing. It also now provides direct deposit functionality for Canadian employees in the payroll module. 

Sage BusinessVision 50 Accounting 7.1 Standard Edition, U.S. and Canadian versions, both of which include 18 accounting and business management modules, and support either one, five or ten users, are now available through authorized Sage BusinessVision business partners across North America starting at an SRP of $2,695 for the one user system.
