Toshiba launches eight notebook computers
Toshiba of Canada Information Systems Group (Toshiba Canada) announced the launch of eight notebook computers for professionals – the Tecra M5, Tecra A series and Portégé M400.

Toshiba’s systems qualify for the Express Upgrade to Genuine Windows Vista. Customers who have purchased a Windows Vista Capable PC with Microsoft Windows XP software between October 26, 2006 and March 15, 2007 may qualify for their PC to be upgraded to Windows Vista. Customers can log on to www.toshiba.ca/vistaupgrade for more information on qualifying models.

Tecra M5
Weighing in at 2.37kg, the Tecra M5-LX501E, Tecra M5-LX301E and Tecra M5-OSR01E boast 14.1-inch TFT Active Matrix Colour LCD displays, one GB DDR2, slim select bay DVD Super-Multi double layer drives, wireless LANs, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M graphics processors and Genuine Windows XP Pro. The Tecra M5-LX501E features the Intel Core2 Duo processor T7200 and carries a suggested retail price (SRP) of $2,699. The Tecra M5-0SR01E (SRP: $2,299) operates on an Intel Core Duo processor T2400 and the M5-LX301E (SRP: $2,499) is powered with the Intel Core Duo processor T2500. The Tecra M5 series systems are built with EasyGuard features to protect the Hard Disk Drive and built in security features to keep data safe.

Tecra A Series
Four Toshiba Tecra A series models feature one GB DDR2, built-in DVD Super-Multi double layer drives, wireless LANs and Genuine Windows XP Pro. Tecra A series notebook computers feature EasyGuard features for data security and protection.

Portégé M400
Portégé M400 features a 12.1-inch TFT Active Matrix display screen for business professionals. It is powered with an Intel Core2 Duo T7200-2.0 GHz processor, one GB of DDR2, 100 GB HDD, an ultra slim select Bay DVD Super-Multi double layer drive, wireless LAN capabilities and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 graphics controller. The Portégé M400 is equipped with Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 (SRP: $2,699).

Lenovo goes small on size
Lenovo announced the ThinkCentre M55e Small Form Factor (SFF) desktop PC, packing in technologies such as Intel Core 2 Duo processors and the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.

The ThinkCentre M55e SFF desktop is approximately 64 percent smaller than Lenovo’s traditional tower form factor and 25 percent smaller than its conventional small desktop.

The desktop also comes equipped with ThinkVantage Technologies (TVTs), such as Rescue and Recovery and Client Security System.

Beginning Jan. 30, customers will be able to purchase PCs in Lenovo notebook and desktop lines preloaded with Windows Vista. Lenovo has integrated its software productivity tools, TVTs and Lenovo Care, with the operating system. Selected models of Lenovo PCs will also be ready for the 2007 Microsoft Office Business Suites.

Pricing and availability
The ThinkCentre M55e SFF desktop, designed and priced for small business customers starting at $999, will be available through Business Partners or online at www.lenovo.com/ca in early February.

ATEN expands CAT5 KVM product line
ATEN Technology Inc. announced two rackmount CAT5 KVM switches designed to eliminate traditional cable management problems and offer extended distance capabilities for up to 130 feet from the single-user KVM switch. The KH1508/KH1516 CAT5 KVM products, available in 8- and 16-port models, feature a three-year warranty and are priced competitively at US$399.95 and US$499.95 respectively. Using daisy chain technology, the products can access up to 256 and 512 computers when connected to an additional 31 units. In addition, the KH1508/KH1516 can be expanded for remote management of servers and data centre devices when connected to ATEN’s CN5000 KVM on the NET control unit.

Both units offer CAT5 technology geared specifically to IT administrators who require a KVM switch that will not clutter their data installations. These switches support a wide range of PC interfaces including PS/2, USB, legacy Sun, Sun USB and serial.

The KH1508/KH1516 switches both can also seamlessly maintain 1600 X 1200 resolution when located 100 feet away from the CPU via the CAT5 cable. At 130 feet, the switches can output 1280 X 1024.

Tenrox announces Project Workforce Management for Microsoft CRM

Tenrox has furthered its relationship with Microsoft after executing an agreement that allows Tenrox to offer the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 under the Microsoft ISV Royalty licensing program and Services Provider Licensing Agreement. Under this agreement Tenrox will release its Project Workforce Management software that leverages the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 feature set to provide a solution that can be hosted or deployed on premise.

Combining Tenrox’s Project Workforce Management with Microsoft CRM provides an organization’s sales team and project workforce with a view of customers, engagements and up-to-the-minute information on project status including key milestones, billing and invoicing information, projects/service contracts that are nearing completion, issues and risks, and scope change requests that could trigger sales opportunities.

In addition, the executive team will benefit from a consolidated dashboard view of the sales funnel, as well as the ability to assess the status and health of customer projects/engagements including detailed financial analysis of project cost, billing and budget information. Microsoft CRM licensing under this agreement is now available from Tenrox.
