Symantec delivers transaction security solution
Symantec Corp. announced the release of Norton Confidential, an online transaction security solution that protects consumer data during online transactions. Separate versions of Norton Confidential are scheduled to be available for users of the Windows operating system in September and the Macintosh operating system in October.
Norton Confidential addresses security concerns by focusing on the moment that consumers are most vulnerable, while they are banking or shopping online or on any site where they submit passwords, account numbers or other personal information. When a consumer is communicating or transacting with a Web site, Norton Confidential scans both the PC and the current Web page for known or suspected fraudulent activity, providing immediate feedback so the consumer knows whether or not it is safe to proceed.
Lynguent introduces ModLyng Integrated Modeling Environment to enhance analogue/mixed-signal design productivity
Lynguent Inc. announced the release of ModLyng Integrated Modeling Environment. ModLyng is a tool for analogue/mixed-signal (AMS) integrated circuit (IC) design that incorporates a graphical user interface and is language- and platform-independent.
The Lynguent ModLyng Environment provides an alternative to traditional development environments. Engineers can create, maintain, debug and translate their AMS models faster than before. Models can be re-used in other designs, across a number of target hardware description languages. ModLyng does this through a graphical user interface that is independent of proprietary simulation environments and HDLs. ModLyng imports the model code, automatically creating a topological view of the model and interpreting the electrical equations and statements in the body of the model. Engineers can augment and extend their models with new equations or icons representing pre-configured behaviours. ModLyng also populates a table with all of the ports and parameters in the model and generates a symbol representing the model so that it may be used inside other models. Alternatively, engineers can create new models with ModLyng. The models may be exported to the same language in which it was written or automatically translated to another language.
ModLyng also features analysis and debug capabilities. Using the tools in the ModLyng environment, ports, parameters, equations, statements and topologies are manipulated and checked.
Bell Canada debuts Samsung handset designed for EVDO wireless network
Bell Canada announced the availability of Samsung’s a900, an EVDO-enabled mobile phone.
Measuring just over a half-inch thick, the flip-phone contains a number of features including Bluetooth wireless technology, high-speed data transmission on Bell’s EVDO data network, and easy access to a music player via external navigation keys. The phone also features a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash and camcorder, streaming video capability, a built-in MP3 player with stereo speakers and external MP3 player controls and stereo speakerphone.
The phone offers up to 2.75 hours of continuous talk time and seven days of standby in EVDO coverage areas.
