Canon introduces DR-1210C scanner
Canon Canada, Inc. released the DR-1210C, a digital scanning solution for workgroup document imaging and general office applications.

The Canon DR-1210C allows users to store and retrieve documents with searchable PDF creation for keyword searching, share and distribute information with one-touch button functionality, convert and organize contact information with business card scanning and secure sensitive documents by creating encrypted and password protected PDF files. The product comes with a 35-page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) and platen glass flatbed to accommodate a range of imaging needs. The device will scan letter-sized documents at up to 12 pages-per-minute (ppm) in both colour and monochrome at resolutions up to 300 dpi.

The unit has a suggested list price of $675 and is available now through Canon distributors.

EMC announces CLARiiON UltraScale Architecture
EMC Corp. introduced an offering for the midrange storage segment with the EMC CLARiiON UltraScale architecture and CX3 series of networked storage systems. The CLARiiON CX3 UltraScale series is designed to allow for the consolidation of multiple tiers of information onto a single array.

The UltraScale allows for full end-to-end 4 Gbps Fibre Channel technology. It features up to double the performance and capacity of its predecessor and enables users to consolidate the workload of two competitive systems onto a single CLARiiON CX3 system. The system also allows users to run existing management and protection software and scale single system capacity and performance up to 239TB. The CLARiiON UltraScale architecture supports high-speed 2 and 4Gbps Fibre Channel disk drives as well as 2Gbps Low-Cost Fibre Channel (LC/FC) disk drives for flexibility and to enable the consolidation of multiple information and storage tiers onto a single array.

The EMC CLARiiON UltraScale CX3-20, CX3-40 and CX3-80 models are now available and can be purchased from EMC, Dell, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Unisys and other EMC distributors.

Zizasoft releases updated zsCompare
Zizasoft LLC announced the release of zsCompare version 3.0, available in three editions. ZsCompare allows users to synchronize computers, back up data, compare different versions of files, verify that CDs have been copied correctly, manage Zip files, review changes to source code, among other features.

With this release, users have the ability to add new file and freeform text comparison features, including the ability to compare text from Microsoft Word documents and PDF documents. Also, zsCompare provides additional control over how the comparison is performed with predefined options for common comparisons. This version of zsCompare permits direct editing of the contents of a file from the results.

ZsCompare 3.0 operates on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and runs on the Java platform. ZsCompare is available in three editions: Professional, which sells for US$199.95, Standard, which sells for US$99.95 and Lite, which is available for US$35.00.

Sereniti releases EasyCare360 for Home PC Security, Networking, Back Up and Tech Support
Sereniti Inc. announced the release of EasyCare360 service, allowing broadband service providers to provide home computer network connectivity, protection, back up and technical support for subscribers.

EasyCare360 combines the Smart Home Server 2000 (SHS-2000), a wireless router with built-in print server and 80GB of network attached storage, with a number of security and support services for PCs on a home network. Hardware and software firewalls, anti-virus, anti-spyware, pop-up blocker, parental controls, automatic back up, file and print sharing and 24/7 technical support are included in the offering.

The service incorporates a GUI interface and Command Center that monitors all the computers on the network. It alerts users to potential problems on the network and suggests maintenance procedures. EasyCare360 automatically updates security programs such as antivirus and antispyware that are included in the Sereniti Security Suite.
