Ensuring wireless security with WirelessMon 2.0
PassMark Software announced the release of WirelessMon 2.0, an update of their wireless network monitoring software. The product is a tool for identifying security risks resulting from unsecured wireless servers and for plotting geographic coverage of wireless networks on a map.

The map plotting feature enables users to create a Wi-Fi coverage map by plotting the relative signal strength and number of detected signals on an imported map. Tracking points may either be entered manually or read directly from GPS devices.

Further improvements include an added channel usage graph showing potential interference, the ability for WirelessMon to act as a connection manager, allowing direct connection to an access-point from within the program and creation of logs that are now saveable in a Microsoft MapPoint compatible format.

A 30-day trial version of WirelessMon 2.0 may be downloaded from the PassMark site. The standard version of the program sells for US$19.00 and the professional edition sells for US$49.00.
