Ontrack Data Recovery releases update to PowerControls
Ontrack Data Recovery announced the release of Ontrack PowerControls 4.1, a mailbox recovery tool. This release assists Microsoft Exchange administrators with new content analysis functionality, message viewing capabilities and expanded backup format support.

The solution requires no changes to the existing Exchange server or backup architecture and eliminates the need for an Exchange recovery server. Updates to 4.1 includes content analysis, allowing administrators to create any number of customized Content Analysis Stores (CAS). Users also have the ability to arrange messages by conversation view (like the Google Mail interface, where messages are grouped by subject), message table view and attachment table view. Finally, there is more support for backup formats.

There are a number of editions of PowerControls 4.1 available, with pricing beginning at $1,159 for 100 mailboxes.

RD Technologies releases X-Backup backup solution
RD Technologies announces the release of X-Backup, a backup solution that supports backup to external USB hard disk, CD/DVD, FTP or HTTP server and to network drives.

The program features an interface, where the user can access the backup storage and the timeline for monitoring backup jobs done. Using the interface, users can also check the scheduled tasks and can generate backup reports. X-Backup supports full, incremental and first full then incremental backup mode.

X-Backup runs under Windows 2000/XP/2003 and costs US$35 for a single-user licence.

IBM announces search and discovery tool
IBM today unveiled a solution that combines enterprise search and unstructured information discovery software with reporting and analytics to help users access business information.

IBM WebSphere Content Discovery for Business Intelligence delivers analysis of free form text fields, documents, audio, video and other unstructured content. In addition to providing enterprise search across all applications and repositories, the product delivers relevant information from existing business intelligence systems, including reports, scorecards, dashboards and others. The software helps ensure that data can be displayed with other enterprise content as part of user search results.

WebSphere Content Discovery for Business Intelligence provides analysis of BI data, extracting specific information, analyzing the context of the request and refining user intent to deliver relevant search results from all enterprise systems.

WebSphere Content Discovery for Business Intelligence is currently available from IBM and IBM Business Partners.

Nokia releases 770 Internet Tablet software update
Nokia introduced a software upgrade for the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. The upgraded features of the OS 2006 edition includes support for Internet communications.

Additional features of the software includes enhanced text typing with full-screen finger keyboard and improved memory performance. There is also an improved home view desktop allowing users to choose from a variety of applets to enable fast access to Internet services from the 770. The upgraded Internet Tablet software platform can also support SIP-based VoIP solutions.

The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet is a Wi-Fi enabled device optimized for Internet communications in a pocketsize format.

The Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition is planned for release during the second quarter of 2006 in selected countries in Europe and the Americas.
