Brother releases laser multi-function MFC 8000 series
Brother International Corp. introduced a group of multi-function products called the 8000 series. The three monochrome business machines offer 30 ppm printing and print and scan resolution.

The DCP-8060 combines laser printing, copying and scanning functions. It features 1200 × 1200 dpi printing and 19,200 dpi (interpolated) scanning. Designed for workgroups, the DCP-8060 offers an upgradeable 250-sheet paper capacity and a 50-sheet multipurpose tray. It also includes compatibility through PCL 6 and BR-Script3 emulations.

The MFC-8460N has the same features as the DCP-8060 and also offers a full-featured fax, including one-touch and speed dial locations as well as 600-page out-of-paper memory, secure faxing, fax-receive date/time printing and Internet faxing functions.

Finally, the MFC-8860DN has all of the features of the MFC-8460N but also offers built-in duplex printing, copying, faxing and scanning. Also, its LDAP compatibility enables access to server-based contact information for fax, I-fax and scan to e-mail address.

These multi-function units will be available at all major office supply retailers starting from April and May 2006. The MSRP at this time are $499.99 for the DCP-8060, $549.99 for the MFC-8460N and $799.99 for the MFC-8860DN.

Super Talent introduces Fully Buffered DIMMs
Super Talent Technology announced a series of DDR2 Fully Buffered DIMM (FB DIMM) modules. The models introduced are:

S1GTR8CJ: 533MHz PC2-4300 1GB FB DIMM
S2GTR4CJ: 533MHz / PC2-4300 2GB FB DIMM
S1GTR8CM: 667MHz / PC2-5400 1GB FB DIMM

The FB DIMM point-to-point architecture supports six channels and eight FB DIMMs per channel, for a total of up to 48 4GB FB DIMMs, or 192GB in a server.

All Super Talent DRAM modules are backed by a lifetime warranty. These products are available in April in sample quantities, and will be in mass production in May.

Digi expands wireless WAN Router family with Digi Connect WAN IA
Digi International released the Digi Connect WAN IA, a new wireless WAN cellular router with features tailored for industrial automation applications.

The Digi Connect WAN IA provides secure cellular GSM or CDMA connections for primary and backup network connectivity to industrial automation devices such as SCADA devices, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and remote terminal units (RTUs).

The Digi Connect WAN IA is available now.

E-Business

Elsop introduces LinkScan 11.6.
Electronic Software Publishing Corp. (Elsop) announced the release of LinkScan, a link checking and website management tool. This group of products offers test automation capabilities for a board range of Web based applications.

Enhancements include a new parser that scans HTML documents, JavaScript files, Shockwave and Flash files, PDF documents, ASCII text files and all types of Microsoft Office documents. Collectmeta causes all HTML META tags to be saved to an ASCII file for later analysis by the user.

LinkScan operates on all Microsoft Windows, Macintosh OS X and Unix Systems. Compatible Unix systems include AIX, BSDI, FreeBSD, Digital Unix, HP/UX, IRIX, all major Linux distributions and SunOS/Solaris.

Version 11.6 is a free upgrade to users of version 10.x and 11.x. Evaluation copies of LinkScan 11.6 may be downloaded from the company’s Website.
