IBM Introduces New IT Infrastructure Solutions for Small and Medium Sized Businesses
IBM introduced three Express Advantage offerings catering to SMBs.

The new additions to Express Advantage include IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator Express, IBM Express Desktop Management Services, and IBM Grid and Grow Express. Tivoli Directory Integrator Express helps to maintain accurate and secure identity data across all applications in an organization. TDIX takes identity data from a trusted source, such as a human resources application and ensures that the data is correctly shared with other applications.

IBM Express Desktop Management Services is an integrated Web-based suite designed to improve the security and uptime of the customer IT environment. The service provides users with visibility of IT assets and installed software across their organization, including remote users and distributed sites, enabling management of desktop and laptop assets.

IBM Grid and Grow Express is a package of hardware, software and services that enable customers to take advantage of grid technology. The offering consists of BladeCenter, featuring seven blades, along with a choice of server architectures, operating systems, schedulers and services that tie these technologies together.

Mobility Electronics Introduces new six slot PCI Express to PCI expansion system
Mobility Electronics Inc. released the Magma six slot PCI Express to PCI expansion system. This product will provide a solution for expanding the capabilities of PCI Express-based computers by adding PCI slots.

The PCI Express to PCI expansion system has a chassis that contains six 64-bit/66MHz PCI slots which are connected to the host computer through a four lane (x4) PCI Express host interface card and a pair of Infiniband cables.

The new PCI Express to PCI expansion system will be available directly from Mobility Electronics and through Mobility expansion resellers.

EMC releases Smarts Application Discovery Manager
EMC Corporation released EMC Smarts Application Discovery Manager. This resource management software discovers and creates a real-time, interactive model of a business’s overall application environment.

Smarts Application Discovery Manager creates a behaviour model, then updates this model as configurations and other application and infrastructure interdependencies are modified. The software offers change-tracking capabilities that creates and maintains a log of changes to hardware and software configuration items including application components, configuration files, deployed applications, file systems, installed applications, IP addresses, memory and patches.

Smarts Application Discovery Manager is now available.

AccuPlan integrates MS Outlook with Scheduling and Planning
I-SSIS Inc. announced the release of AccuPlan v. 2, a project management solution that handles project planning, scheduling tasks, resource allocation, creating budgets, producing charts and graphs, generating reports and other features.

AccuPlan allows users to design detailed, step-by-step plans of projects. Users can create a snapshot of their project’s health with AccuPlan, which allows for the creation of visual representations in Gantt view, as a spreadsheet or a WBS View (organizational chart). Users are able to quickly identify allocation conflicts, under- and over-utilized resources and reorganize problem areas early on to ensure their projects are completed on time and within budget.

The software is available for Windows 98/2000/XP and is free for educational use, US$39 for personal use and US$98 for commercial use (special limited time pricing). An evaluation version of AccuPlan v. 2 can be downloaded from the company’s site.
