BenQ launches digital projectors for business and home theatre applications
BenQ announced the release of its projector line-up for business and high performance applications, the PB8253/PB8263, MP770, CP220 PE8720, and W100.

This series of projectors feature increased brightness levels, 2000:1 contrast ratio, native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution and BenQ’s eight application modes designed for varying presentation environments.

The MP770, is a portable solution for open-concept classrooms and conferences. With BenQ’s BrilliantColor technology and 3,200 ANSI lumens, the product features a lamp life of up to 4,000 hours. Also featured is Picture-In-Picture, a nine-setting application mode and two customer preference modes supply versatility and connectivity.

The CP220 is a miniature projector portable solution with integrated wireless function and real-time auto keystone.

The PE8720, designed for home theatres, offers enhanced 3D colour management, 1,000 ANSI lumens. The 10,000:1 contrast ratio allows for projection of HDTV-grade visuals.

The W100 offers 16:9 wide-screen aspect ratio and offers 1,300 ANSI lumens. This projector also supports a range of video formats, including 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080i.

Storage

Samsung introduces 18X rewritable DVD drive and 12X DVD-RAM recording
Samsung Electronics Ltd. released the WriteMaster SH-S182D, an 18X EIDE/ATAPI rewritable DVD and 12X DVD-RAM writable drive.

The SH-S182D features 8X double layer recording and 12X DVD-RAM recording. The drive utilizes Samsung’s Super-WriteMaster technology, allowing for improved DVD+RW, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM recording performance.

The drive is ideal for IT professionals for use in enterprise and network storage applications. The SH-S182D is designed for businesses that perform daily or weekly back up of data from hard drives and require a system that can handle multiple re-writes.

The SH-S182D will be shipping in June for an estimated street price of US$69.99.

Networking

ViewSonic introduces signage solution able to handle HD video
ViewSonic Corp. unveiled its NMP-500 Network Media Player and a 42-inch ND4200-LS Net IP integrated displays.

Featuring a Web browser and high-definition video processing capabilities, the NMP-500 media player and ND4200-LS display are display solutions for businesses wanting to stream digital media content. Streaming video and HTML information via Ethernet at up to 20 MB per second, both products integrate with existing network infrastructure. The integrated ND4200-LS also features an internal 40GB hard drive to support local playback of digital media content.

Both products are based on open standards including standard IP protocols for content management and streaming HD video. A Mozilla Web browser allows users to view HTML Web pages including Macromedia Flash animations while also streaming MPEG 1/2/4 video signals in real-time. The solution eliminates the need for a dedicated PC to decode Flash and other video signals from the Internet before being displayed. The solution supports standard HTML authoring tools, such as Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver and Frontpage. Both products operate on the Linux operating system and can be managed remotely via Internet Protocol (IP) to eliminate the need for on-site technical support.

The NMP-500, with an estimated street price of $775 and the ND4200, priced at $5,550, are available through authorized ViewSonic resellers.

Wireless

ViewSonic releases wireless adapter and portable projector combination
ViewSonic Corp. announced a wireless presentation solution with the release of the WPG-100 Wireless G presentation adapter. The solution allows multiple computers to wirelessly connect to a projector to stream digital or audio content, without having to physically connect to the projector.

The WPG-100 features a built-in 802.11b/g, DVI, VGA and LAN connectors, allowing users to connect their laptop to the WPG-100 to project data wirelessly from up to 250 feet. In addition, the adapter can also connect to any display with a DVI or VGA connector.

The WPG-100 will be available in August for an estimated street price of $279.99.
