TIG and EDGE are hosting a panel discussion at GTEC on Tuesday. The topic is implementing and enforcing IT user policies. How far should we go in monitoring public sector user and what are the security implications of not strictly enforcing user policies?

The

panel will be covered in the November issue of TIG. Also, the feature for December is the IT behind the new Dopplar weather radar systems Environment Canada is using to predict such events as tornadoes.

CC will host a Women in IT Roundtable on November 5, 2004. We have assembled a group of five IT professionals who work in various areas of technology as well as an authour to discuss the perspective of women working in the technology sector. What are the challenges they face and what unique benefits to they bring to the field?

Participants will discuss their views on various subjects specifically relating to women, including such topics as decreased enrolment of women in university and college computer science programs.
