The phone so cool Canadians may never get to buy one

Don’t get too excited – the model doesn’t cwome with LG’s LG-KE850, the handset it designed for Italian luxury goods designer Prada SPA. The phone is a tri-band GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) model (900/1800/1900MHz) with support for EDGE data transmission. Frequently described as a doppleganger for Apple Inc.’s iPhone due to its similar touch-screen interface, the LG-KE850 includes one thing the iPhone does not: a memory card slot. It’s also slightly smaller than the iPhone, at 99 mm long by 54 mm, and is about 12 mm thick.

The three-inch WQVGA-resolution touch screen interface that covers much of its surface. Additional features include: a two megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach lens, video player, and external memory slot. The device is powered by the Imageon 2282 media processor.

Prada, which also reportedly added content to the phone, will be selling it through Prada shops in the U.K., France, Germany and Italy for about US$775. Later this year it will also appear in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. So far, however, Prada has made no announcement about when it might be for sale in Canada. Maybe it’s just too good for us.
