New solutions from EMC Corp. have been designed to help customers more effectively consolidate, back up, archive and protect their information.The products include: the EMC CLARiiON CX3-10 UltraScale networked storage system, a new entry point into its series of full 4Gb/s storage arrays; EMC RecoverPoint/SE software, an entry point for network-based asynchronous replication in mid-tier storage environments; and three solutions to help mid-sized businesses consolidate, back up, archive and protect their Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Microsoft Exchange 2003 and Oracle RAC 10g environments. The CLARiiON CX3-10 system can scale to 30TB of capacity. It features combined Fibre Channel and iSCSI connectivity within the same array, providing deployment flexibility and efficient storage consolidation, according to EMC.

The ES1000 Email Security Appliance from Sophos, well suited for organizations with less than 1,000 employees, is an email security appliance to block malware, potentially unwanted applications and spam from entering the network via the email gateway. The ES1000 requires little human intervention, and Sophos’s global network of analysis centres make updates available every five minutes for the email security appliance. The ES1000 package includes unlimited 24-hour phone, email and online support.
Smart phone data rescue
TrackItBack, a provider of global lost and found recovery solutions, has launched TrackItBackUP a mobile software solution for smart phones that lets smart device users backup their critical data to a secure server using over-the-air (OTA) technology. TrackItBackUP lets smart phone users manually or automatically back up the valuable data from their smart device without using a computer. All data is sent over-the-air through their cell phone data connection and backed-up onto TrackItBack’s secure servers. When needed, TrackItBackUP users can restore some or all of their data from any of their previous backups. When a TrackItBackUP enabled smart phone is lost, stolen or goes missing, the owner of the device can contact TrackItBack and the company will remotely lock their device so that it cannot be used. Or, all data can be wiped out so the user’s information cannot be exploited.
