SAS pitches visual analytics to mid-market

Software vendor SAS is targeting the mid-market with its new Visual Analytics solutions.

The visual data exploration software combines business intelligence with analytics and graphical display options. It can be used to create mobile dashboards for on the go executives, as well as for front-line workers to manipulate data and obtain actionable business insight without needing to go to specialists to create and run reports.

“With powerful data exploration and display abilities, SAS Visual Analytics is more than just a simple business intelligence product. Merging BI and analytics in one fast, easy-to-use package, SAS sits at the crossroads of several technologies that customers are anxious to see converge,” said Jim Davis, senior vice-president and chief marketing officer at SAS, in a statement. “SAS Visual Analytics is highly scalable, ranging from scenarios with a handful of users to a corporate wide, global deployment.”

Looking at revenues by geography.

While SAS is putting the new offering at the mid-market, it’s important to remember the U.S.-based vendor’s definition of the mid-market is likely larger than the Canadian definition. Any big data solution requires you to have lots of data to draw on, and will still require significant IT investment. This solution is likely to only fit at the upper end of the Canadian mid-market.
