Quantum Corp.ís GoVault removable drive storage solution is for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) and remote offices that are not fully protecting their business-critical data or are looking for ways to simplify the backup, recovery and archiving process.

An alternative to existing tape or optical storage options, the GoVault solution consists of rugged removable drive cartridges with multiple capacity points, a server-embedded intelligent dock, and bundled backup software. This design is meant to combine the portability and long-term archive functionality of tape with the performance of disk.

Avaya Inc. is trying to make it easier for small businesses and small branches of enterprises to migrate to Internet Protocol (IP) telephony. Avaya one-X Quick Edition is a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based peer-to-peer solution. All the software is in the phone, with no need for a communications server or advanced installation skills. IP phones, plugged into the local area network (LAN), automatically “discover” each other, start-up their features and provide back-up for one another. Users gain access to the most commonly used telephony applications, including voice mail, conferencing and the auto-attendant. As an office grows, new employees can be added to the system by adding a new phone.
