Atheros Communications Inc., a developer of advanced wireless solutions, has launched a single-port Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) PHY. The AR8021 GbE PHY serves a growing number of devices that benefit from Gigabit throughput including notebook and desktop PCs, wired and wireless routers, gateways, set-top boxes, printers, gaming platforms and network storage devices. The AR8021 is the world’s smallest GbE PHY device, according to Atheros, offering a reduction of more than 60 per cent in package size compared to the nearest competitive solution.
International roamer
The BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smartphone, from Research In Motion (RIM) and Bell Mobility, delivers high-speed mobile connectivity on CDMA in Canada and North America, as well as international voice and data roaming on GSM/GPRS networks outside of North America. The full QWERTY handset features a sleek design, yet delivers the wireless e-mail capabilities, phone features, Web browsing and support for other mobile data applications of previous BlackBerry models. It also offers a bright, high resolution (320 x 240) display with light-sensing technology that automatically optimizes the screen, a trackball and keyboard lighting for indoor, outdoor and dark environments, and noise cancellation for enhanced audio performance.

A set of solutions from Alcatel-Lucent have been designed to transform the networks, services and business operations of small and medium businesses (SMBs). The solutions form a portfolio of products and services bringing together business telephony, applications, cost-effective voice over IP (VoIP), and a secured LAN and WiFi infrastructure. Mobility and collaboration tools are integrated within this set of solutions and deliver a Web presence, unified messaging, shared access to contacts, calendars and documents and full-featured desktop and wireless phones.

Imation Corp. has expanded its portfolio of removable hard disk drive (RHDD) solutions with the release of the Imation RDX Removable Hard Disk Storage System, a removable hard disk solution that provides easy and reliable backup, data security and expandable storage for SMBs. The RDX Removable Hard Disk Storage System includes: the choice of an external USB or internal SATA docking station; USB or SATA cable; external universal power supply cable (for USB docking station only); Imation RDX cartridge; EMC Retrospect backup software; and the RDX system utility software.
