PayPal brings ‘One Touch’ payments to Canada for faster checkouts

Following its debut in the U.S. last month, PayPal is promising faster checkouts for Canadian web consumers by bringing One Touch for Web to Canada.

OneTouch for Web allows consumers, after they’ve made their initial login to their PayPal account, to pay for subsequent purchases with a single click. Account credentials are saved on the device, so consumers don’t need to log in to their account each time they want to make a purchase.

The vendor hopes the solution will make it easier for consumers to shop online – and if it’s easier, maybe they’ll shop more. PayPal says OneTouch will be automatically enabled for most PayPal merchants without any integration, and customers can choose to use it or not. It’s also available for iOS and Android.

“Merchants like Airbnb, Boxed, Jane.com, Lyft, Munchery, YPlan have shared that One Touch led to an immediate increase in sales, average order values, customer adoption and loyalty,” said Bill Ready, senior vice-president and global head of merchant and next generation commerce for PayPal, in a statement. “And because One Touch enables consumers to pay without entering any payment information even at signup, it helps to increase customer adoption and address checkout abandonment.”

OneTouch for Web is available in Canada and the UK now, and will be expanding internationally in the months ahead.
