OptiView drills down into virtual LANs

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Fluke Networks has added a new feature, VLAN Vision, to its OptiView Integrated Network Analyzer and OptiView Workgroup Analyzer. Designed to let network managers find and get information on devices connected to remote subnets on virtual local-area networks (VLANs), VLAN

Vision is said to eliminate the requirement to test separately from different locations, or to install equipment at several different locations on the network.

VLAN Vision displays MAC, IP, NetBIOS and services for devices, and gives information on switch, slot, port and speed. Fluke states OptiView users can now identify the sources of problems caused by incorrect VLAN membership assignments or inappropriate trunk port configurations. The VLAN Vision options costs $5,559.
