Newprosoft releases Web Content Extractor
Newprosoft announces the release of version 2.1 of Web Content Extractor, a data extraction tool that automates the process, variously known as Web scraping, data mining and data extraction.

Web Content Extractor allows users to create a project for a particular site with the similar structure of the pages (such as online stores, shopping sites, e-commerce sites, financial sites, business directories, product catalogues, search engine results etc.) and extract data from it to be stored in the database of the current project. The extracted data can be exported to a variety of formats, including Microsoft Excel, Access, TXT, HTML or MySQL. Another feature is its ability to extract data from multiple pages.

One more advantage of Web Context Extractor is that it provides an immersion into the working process. You don’t have to be an advanced user or resort to the manual to start using the program because adjustments can be made using the intuitive wizard-like interface.

Web Content Extractor runs under all 32-bit versions of Windows and costs US$99 for a single-user licence. Licensed customers are entitled to a fully-functional version of the product, free technical support and free upgrades. Further information on Web Content Extractor, as well as its free trial copy is available free of charge from http://www.newprosoft.com/

Data Management
Radmin releases Vista compatible Radmin 3.0
Radmin 3.0 is a remote control solution to be compatible with Windows Vista. That means that the program can work under Windows Vista and other Windows OS beginning from Windows 2000.

One of the innovations is DirectScreenTransfer technology or its common name for a Video Hook Driver. This technology provides unprecedented speed with a minimal CPU usage. The major advantage of DirectScreenTransfer is that it receives data directly from Windows, before it ever gets to the Video RAM.

Radmin 3.0’s text and voice chat systems allow users to communicate in real time and even hold online conferences. The text chat mode allows users to conduct group discussions or private conversations. The number of participants per chat session is restricted only by licence agreement. In voice chat mode there are two types of communication channels: public and conference. Public voice channels allow users to speak simultaneously while the conference channels put speakers singly through a queue. Both types of communication channels may be open for everyone or could be password-protected.

Another important feature of Radmin 3.0 is its security system, which provides data protection from interception or different types of malicious attacks. Radmin 3.0 demonstrates an increase of security due to its integration with professional developments such as Windows Security, 256 bit AES data encryption for all data transferred, NTLM/Kerberos and Active Directory support. User authentication is substantiated by a modified Diffie-Hellman 2,048 bit algorithm. The increased levels of Radmin Security protect the active data on the network. Access rights are individual for each user. Special IP-filter tables restrict access to specific IP addresses and sub-networks.

Radmin 3.0 supports multiple monitors and multiple simultaneous connections to the same computer. Other functionalities include the following features: supporting user switching for Windows XP and Vista; folder management in Radmin phonebook; scan for available Radmin Servers; mouse wheel support; minimizing Radmin Viewer’s main window to a tray icon; Radmin phonebook can be stored in file and many others.

Radmin 3.0 has two modules as its previous versions: Radmin Viewer and Radmin Server. Radmin Viewer 3.0 is compatible with previous versions of Radmin Server. Licensing is needed only for Radmin Server while Radmin Viewer is free. Users who would like to upgrade their previous versions to Radmin 3.0 can take advantage of licence key equivalent exchange.

PowerFile paves the way to simplified storage archiving

PowerFile Inc. announced that Terex Roadbuilding has adopted the company’s Permanent Storage Appliance as a centralized repository of fixed-content data.

Terex Roadbuilding deployed a 1.7TB PSA unit to serve as a central repository and single platform.

The Permanent Storage Appliance virtualizes a massive array of disks behind a network attached front end so nothing unique needs to be administered, managed or learned. The system comes pre-configured with powerful storage management software that virtualizes the DVD subsystem into storage volumes in any required increments.
