New leaks indicate BlackBerry’s DTEK60 could be released on Oct. 25

Though not yet officially announced, BlackBerry Ltd.’s next smartphone has appeared in several online inventory databases that collectively reveal its specs and even a release date.

As first noted by fan site Crackberry, outlets including B&H Photo briefly made the DTEK60 available for preorder earlier this month before abruptly taking it down.

The latest, according to U.K.-based gadget site Pocket-lint, was German retailer Media Markt, which listed it for sale on Oct. 25, indicating the device will be available not just in Canada and the U.S., but Europe as well.

According to Crackberry, via B&H Photo, the DTEK60’s specs will include:

According to Crackberry, the DTEK60’s pre-order price on B&H Photo was $499.99, including a soft shell case and a BlackBerry RC-1500NA rapid travel charger, while Pocket-lint reported a European retail price of 600 Euro.

It’s important to note that BlackBerry itself has not commented on any of these rumours – but if true, the DTEK60 would be the company’s first device released since last month’s announcement that it would be exiting the smartphone market and outsourcing the design and manufacturing of future BlackBerry-branded hardware.

Before announcing its exit, the company had released the well-received DTEK50 in August, but also revealed that third-party Android developers could now licence its signature security and productivity software, essentially turning any Android-powered device into a BlackBerry.
