The Ricoh Aficio MP C3500 and Ricoh Aficio MP C4500 Digital Color Multifunction Products (MFPs) from Ricoh Corp. offer device and document management utilities that let users view print jobs in queue, check supply levels and control the timing and location of jobs.
A full-colour LCD control panel shows thumbnail previews of documents. As well, versatile finishing options, including the ability to create folded, saddle-stitched booklets, allow more jobs to be completed in-house. These MFPs also have an option that allows users to print photos directly from their digital cameras without using a computer.
Safer data, even underwater
Kingston Technology Company Inc.‘s two new rugged, waterproof USB 2.0 Flash drives feature hardware-based encryption to safeguard critical data. The DataTraveler Secure and DataTraveler Secure – Privacy Edition drives, good for consumer and SMB users, feature titanium-coated stainless steel casings that are rated to protect against water damage to depths of up to four feet. Access control and data protection are provided via 256-bit advanced encryption standard (AES) hardware-based encryption. This allows information to be encrypted and decrypted by authorized users, without the need for special software. With 24 MB/sec read and 10 MB/sec write speeds, the DataTraveler Secure and DataTraveler Secure – Privacy Edition drives are available in capacities of up to 4 GB.
Publisher takes on SMBs
A solution for optical disc publishing for workgroups and the SMB market is now available from Imation Corp. The Imation D20 Disc Publisher is an all-in-one CD and DVD publishing system that automates the copying of up to 20 discs at once. Well suited for duplication of marketing and sales materials, music, video and catalogs, the D20 is about the size of a standard inkjet printer. When used in combination with Imation AquaGuard discs, the system’s image creation software and ink ensure maximum design flexibility, brilliant colors, and quick-drying graphics that resist smearing when exposed to water or humid conditions, according to Imation.
