Microsoft unveils Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1

Microsoft launches Exchange Server 2007 SP1
Microsoft Corp announced Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and opened a technology preview for the software. Exchange Server 2007 SP1 features enhancements such as support for Windows Server 2008, enhanced integration with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, and mobile device management and advanced security technology.

Exchange Server 2007 SP1 also includes features that enhance the user experience in Outlook Web Access, provide greater functionality in the Exchange Server 2007 Management Console, and deliver disaster recovery capabilities through Standby Continuous Replication.

Features of Exchange Server 2007 SP1 unveiled include these:

  • Support for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista
  • Enhanced integration with Office Communications Server 2007
  • Additional Exchange ActiveSync policies
  • Standby Continuous Replication
  • Enhanced security

Novell releases ZENworks Configuration Management

Novell announced the availability of Novell ZENworks Configuration Management. This configuration management allows companies to add patch, asset and endpoint security management capabilities.

ZENworks Configuration Management provides the critical information and tools companies need for regulatory compliance, asset and licence auditing, business continuity and process improvement. With integrated enterprise reporting from BusinessObjects incorporated in ZENworks Configuration Management, IT administrators can turn raw data into actionable reports. The ZENworks Control Center, an integrated console, allows administrators to address configuration, reporting, patch and asset management from a single location.

ZENworks Configuration Management Advanced and Enterprise editions provide endpoint security management technology. These tools protect endpoint devices from malware, data theft and unauthorized wireless access. Additionally, advanced asset and patch management capabilities ensure accurate and secure systems.

The product runs on Microsoft Windows, Linux and Novell Open Enterprise Server for Linux. ZENworks Configuration Management is available in Standard, Advanced and Enterprise editions. The Standard Edition is available for approximately US $99, Advanced Edition for approximately US $162 and the Enterprise Edition for approximately US $320. A limited time promotion offers qualified customers an upgrade to ZENworks Configuration Management Enterprise for approximately US $118.
