Bell Canada announces two mobile software offerings
Bell Canada and Good Technology Inc. announced a corporate e-mail and data access solution for mobile business professionals that supports Palm Treo smartphones and Pocket PC wireless devices. Available immediately for Bell Mobility customers, Good Mobile Messaging and Good Mobile Defense provide enterprise-class push e-mail and functionality with mobile security applications to improve productivity and safeguard sensitive corporate information and systems.

Good Mobile Messaging offers users secure access to corporate e-mail as well as contacts, calendars, tasks, notes and other corporate data directly from their wireless device.

Good Mobile Defense is a security application that ensures critical information is protected when a wireless device is lost, stolen or misused. IT administrators can remotely manage each device, customize multiple security policies and protection levels and can clear the wireless device of any sensitive information, files, or saved e-mails.

Good Mobile Messaging and Good Mobile Defense are available on multiple Bell Mobility wireless devices.

Marshal’s WebMarshal 2006 solution reduces business risk from Internet abuse
Marshal Inc. announced the immediate availability of WebMarshal 2006, an Internet management tool for securing and protecting SMB and enterprise organizations and their employees against the latest wave of Web-browsing threats.

WebMarshal 2006 helps companies to control threats inside the Web gateway through tools and acceptable use policies that restrict employee access to inappropriate Web content and manage employees’ personal Internet use while at work. The software also secures organizations against external threats from viruses, spyware, phishing and other malicious code attacks.

Capable of scaling from tens of users to more than 150,000 users, the software has been designed to meet a broad range of acceptable use requirements. WebMarshal 2006 runs on Windows Server 2000/2003 and Windows XP Professional. The software is available immediately through Marshal’s channel partners and is currently priced at US$750 plus maintenance for a 25-user licence.

Kyocera Wireless launches KR1 Mobile Router
Kyocera Wireless Corp. announced the launch of the Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router. The Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router uses a single high-speed cellular connection to create a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot or Ethernet hub for multiple PCs and delivers download speeds of up to 2.4 Mbps.

The Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router is designed for use with 1x EV-DO PC cards, including the Kyocera Passport and select USB-enabled EV-DO handsets. The KR1 Mobile Router is ideal for SMBs, enterprises and consumers. The Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router distributes 1x EV-DO connectivity from the PC Card or mobile phone to as many as 20 computers via 802.11b and 802.11g Wi-Fi connections and/or four 10/100 Ethernet cable ports.

Delivering average download speeds of approximately 400-700 kbps and a maximum speed of up to 2.4 Mbps in EV-DO coverage areas, the KR1 Mobile Router delivers high-speed wireless connectivity. The Kyocera KR1 Router also provides additional security controls such as 128-bit WEP encryption and a firewall.

Available to use out-of-the-box, the Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router is available throughout Canada through Bell Canada and TELUS with prices starting from $249.99.

Sage Software launches Sage Accpac ERP 5.4
Sage Software announced the availability of version 5.4 of Sage Accpac ERP business management system (formerly ACCPAC Advantage Series). This latest version offers clients Return Materials Authorization (RMA) capabilities. Sage Accpac ERP 5.4 is also dual-core processor compatible, ready for 64-bit processors from Intel and AMD.

With RMA, Sage Accpac ERP 5.4 allows businesses to keep pace with processing customer returns in a timely fashion. Clients can track and bill for repairs quickly and accurately and automated inventory control is integrated with the order entry and purchase order modules. Users can also access report data to help discover and resolve return and repair issues. The RMA module also provides centralized, integrated returns management that allows complete tracking of sales items from the initial purchase order all the way through to a return.

Available in three editions, 100, 200 and 500, Sage Accpac ERP 5.4 is now available from authorized Sage Accpac business partners across North America, starting at an SRP of $695 for Sage Accpac 100 ERP. The RMA module will be available by the end of this year starting at an SRP of $2,250.
